"Psychology. It’s only interesting if you can answer yes to at least one of the following two questions. 1) Are you human? 2) Do you interact with other humans?"

Spencer

Meet
Spencer

Spencer is an experienced therapist, educator, and frontline practitioner with over 25 years of professional experience across clinical, educational, and community-based settings. Their work spans urban and rural, child and adult, and multicultural contexts, including work with Indigenous Canadians. (In other words: if it involves humans being human, Spencer has probably been there.)

Throughout their career, Spencer has worked on the front lines in group homes and schools, providing direct support to children, youth, and families with complex needs. In addition to frontline practice, they have facilitated evidence-informed parenting programs and delivered therapeutic services across diverse populations—translating psychological theory into tools that actually work on a Tuesday afternoon.

Spencer has also contributed to post-secondary education as a college-level instructor, sharing practical and clinical expertise with emerging professionals. Their leadership encompasses the planning and delivery of professional development initiatives, including organizing and facilitating international conferences that focus on creating a better world through humanist principles. (Yes, the kind with big ideas—and coffee.)

With a strong foundation in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and relationship-based practice, Spencer brings a depth of experience that bridges hands-on service, teaching, and professional leadership—grounded, practical, and just self-aware enough to know that no one has it all figured out.

When not teaching or doing therapy, he enjoys his primary function as an imperfect human being. Some of his favourite human activities are cooking (mostly because of the eating), biking (especially the Confederation Trail across PEI), but mostly loving being a dad, partner, son, sibling, and friend.
